Read our transparency report to learn Greater Manchester, England198 contributionsJun. 2022I went off to the Botanical gardens just to see the bonsai's really. I found an incredible rose garden and no Bonsais at the Japanese exhibition. Instead there was a Japanese house structure and glass cabinets with Japanese crockery and cutlery on display. Not what I want to see at the botanical gardens. The garden area was closed? Huh? So walked on and thankfully found the bonsais in the Chinese section of the garden. I was fortunate that a horticulturist was pruning that day and spent a good hour with her understanding the care and art of working with bonsais. She was so interesting and so knowledgeable. I was amazed how many people didn't think to stop and talk to her. I learnt about the intricate care of the roots, and how they determine which side the bonsai needs to be displayed. I was also interested that trees that are over 100 years old and all trees really have a record of the horticulturists that worked on each tree. Isn't that amazing?
